Thank you for visiting my site. I wish we could sit with our feet under my kitchen table and learn about each other. Here’s what I would tell you…
I’m a mixed media artist living in Salem, Oregon. My home is a tiny cottage in a downtown neighborhood surrounded by giant Douglas firs, redwoods, and verdant backyard gardens.
My art comes from a different landscape. Memory, origins, dreams, and longing are the markers on my heart’s topography. My goal as an artist is to get out of my own way so that these images can emerge. I frequently use an undecipherable text, what I have heard called “wild mouth,” underneath images. This “language” represents my deep desire to make connections, realizing that sometimes language only keeps us further apart.
Right now I’m working with plaster on board, painting, carving, sanding, and resurfacing to reveal the real voice of the piece. I also love painting with acrylic and inks on silk tissue to make wall hangings and handmade books.
Glenda Goodrich, Janet Wilson, and I are getting ready for our Studio Open House and Sale. It takes place December 2 and 3 and will be at Glenda’s studio. We’re really excited about it, and can’t wait to see our friends and families.
I’m busily doing the finishing touches on plaster paintings, wall hangings, hand painted gift wrap, silk tissue ornaments, and some other fun stuff.
